Our Farm
Floral Sense partners with premier farms near the equator, where warm climates create ideal conditions for cultivating exceptional lilies, calla lilies, and gerbera daisies.
These equatorial farms leverage consistent warmth and optimal soil to produce premium flowers that stand out in the marketplace. Our rigorous sourcing ensures only the highest-quality blooms reach customers.
We believe in a sustainable bulb process and use each lily bulb once for a single flower stem, guaranteeing peak freshness and vigor. After harvest, spent bulbs are tilled back into the soil as natural fertilizer, while new bulbs restart the cycle. This one-and-done method—from planting to harvest in 13-16 weeks—delivers unmatched quality.
As members of the Rainforest Alliance, our farms earned their certification by meeting rigorous criteria for practices that benefit both people and the planet. Certified farms nourish the land, use fewer pesticides, fight climate change, and treat workers fairly – while meeting a range of requirements expertly designed to create a better world.

In Store Lily Care
Cleanliness is usually underestimated in terms of its importance concerning post-harvest vase life. If starting with a dirty and microbe infested bucket, cooler or anything else that might come in contact with the flowers, all other attempts at post-harvest care will be less effective (fresh flower food, hydration, to name a few). For example, if a flower is properly treated and then put into a dirty bucket, the flower may prematurely die from the microbes, regardless of the treatment. It is imperative that everything that may come in contact with the flower is cleaned – including buckets, cutters, coolers, ad benches. Floralife DCD is an approved cleaner for the horticulture industry. Floralife formula DCD is specifically designed to kill microbes over a long period of time. If you clean your buckets today, tomorrow the buckets will still be protected. Many use a chlorine bleach to clean buckets. Chlorine is an extremely effective biocide, but does not have any residual effect, leaving no protection much past a day. For every one bacteria found in a bucket cleaned with DCD, there was 389 bacteria found in a bucket cleaned with Clorox.
- Do not store – dry pack – fresh cut lilies in the cooler more than 2 days upon receipt.
- Once lilies are cut –lilies should be placed on the sales floor – un-refrigerated.
- Yellowing of leaves are caused by the following :
Cold temperatures – storing lilies in the cooler too long:
- Too much time stored dry pack – in the cooler.
- Buckets running out of water while on display. Lilies drink a lot – fill the buckets halfway prior to placing on the sales floor.
- Too much time stored dry pack – in the cooler.
- Daily culling is very important for fresh cut lilies.
- Lilies drink a lot of water – and prefer not being stored in the cooler
At Home Care
Select a clean vase or container, then approximate the length you’d like your stems to be. With a sharp clean knife, cut off the bottom of stems according to your desired stem length.
Remove any leaves that will be below water level to help prevent bacteria growth. In your vase, mix cold tap water with the flower food provided – before placing flowers in the vase. Be sure to portion flower food according to the directions on the packet. This will increase the longevity of your lilies. The cleaner the water, the longer the flowers will last. Every 3-4 days, change the water and re-cut ½” minimum from the bottom of the stems.
For maximum enjoyment of your flowers, keep them away from direct sunlight, drafts, and heat sources. Lilies are very thirsty. Check vase daily to make sure there is plenty of water in the vase.
When lilies begin to open – remove anthers. Removing anthers from lilies can easily be achieved with a re-useable glove. If staining occurs on clothes – use tape to lift the anther pollen from your clothing – do not use hands as the oils from your skin will set the stain. To remove anther pollen from staining the lily petals – use a chenille stem.
